Band Fundraiser
We would like for you to consider supporting our school band
by purchasing a case or more of Pepsi products from one of our band students or
by seeing Mrs. Trecy in the school office.
This is the second year we have had band at PLAS, and this will be our first
fundraiser. Our students have to
purchase/provide their own musical instruments and pay for their music books,
but there are many other items that are needed to keep our band successful now
and for years to come. Sheet music can
cost $60 or more per song. As you know a
band needs to learn more than one song per year. Our goal is to eventually be able to perform
at half time during football games and during other school events. We appreciate any support you can give to our
band now and in the future. If you do
not drink soft drinks you can donate to the band through cash donations. No amount is too small to help our band.
Listed below are the options you have to purchase from the
students. Keep in mind each case is $20
and contains 24 – 24 ounce bottles of your choice of one kind of soft drink.
Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew, Dr.
Pepper, Diet Dr. Pepper, Sunkist
All orders are due by Wednesday, September 24.
Thank you for supporting the band,
Mrs. Amanda Ford, Band Director

Mrs. Garrett is an alumnus of Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, AL and attended Troy “State” University and Alabama State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in Elementary Education.
She is proud to say that she began her career at PLAS teaching third grade. After two years at Pike, Mrs. Garrett transitioned into the Ozark City School System where she taught fourth grade for two years. She married Micah Garrett and moved to Madison County, where she taught fourth grade and sixth grade for the Madison City and Madison County School Systems. While in Madison County, Mrs. Garrett attended Alabama Math, Science, and Technology (AMSTI) training and began teaching science and math utilizing the materials provided by this program. AMSTI promotes learning by engaging students in hands-on, inquiry-based lessons. Upon moving back toward Pike County, Mrs. Garrett became an AMSTI Science Specialist at Troy University, working primarily with 3rd-5th grade science teachers for eleven counties in the Troy in-service region. She has trained many teachers on AMSTI science modules and has had the opportunity to coach teachers on a variety of topics.
After three and a half years at AMSTI in Troy, Mrs. Garrett had the Education as an Education Specialist in the Office of Student Learning. She specifically worked with 3rd-5th grade AMSTI Science Specialists in eleven AMSTI regions in the state.
Over the years, Mrs. Garrett has had numerous opportunities to work with people of all ages…elementary, middle school, high school, and college students as well as adults.
Mrs. Garrett is excited to return to the school where she began her career and we are equally excited to have an educator with such credentials join the administration of Pike Liberal Arts School.
Please stop by anytime this summer and meet Mrs. Garrett.
The summer office hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with the office closed for the week of July the Fourth. You may also set up an appointment for another time if necessary. Please check the website for registration information. The first day of school is Friday, August 8, 2014. Enjoy your summer!
Sincerely,
Maria Strother, Chairman
