2016 Deer Hunt
The annual deer hunt will be January 8-10, 2016. This is the largest fund raiser for our school. We are asking each family to send $15 to help with the cost of the food. The money needs to be sent in an envelope labeled Deer Hunt. Please have the money turned in by December 17th. Thank you for helping to make this a successful fund raiser!
Also, if you have land that may be used for hunting or if you can be a guide for the hunt, please call Dana Thrash at 334-372-3540.

Pike Sweatshirts
Happy Thursday! I hope you all are having a good week. I wanted to run this by each of you… I have talked to Kelsey from Ideal Graphics about ordering some sweatshirts. I know there was just an order placed for hoodies, but I was talking with her about doing sweatshirts and wanted to see who all would be interested in ordering one. This is a chance for teachers, students, parents, and whoever wants one to show their PIKE spirit in the cooler weather.
The sweatshirts will be like the picture below. They will be a shade of navy blue and will be the Comfort Color brand. The sweatshirts will be $23.00 a piece. We can purchase youth sizes. Sizes start at YOUTH SMALL and go up to ADULT XXL.
If you are interested, please email me (ashadeed@pikelib.com) so that I can get a more definite number. I will be making an order form available when we get back from Thanksgiving break.
Thanks so much!

Viewing Report Cards
Several parents have informed us that they are unable to view report cards on Achieve. They have encountered a problem that seems to be originating from the Chrome browser in which the pdf document of the report card shows up blank. To remedy this, you can either use a different web browser (IE and Firefox work for sure and I have heard no complaints about Safari or Opera either) or you can follow the directions below to view it using Chrome:
When you click on Run Report, you see the pdf file in a download box at the lower corner of the screen.
Instead of clicking on the file to open it up, click the dropdown arrow next to the file name and select "Always open in Adobe Reader" *
Then click on the file name and the file will open and it will also open on any subsequent attempts.
* If you do not have Adobe Reader, you can download it here or copy and paste the URL below into your web browser (please make sure to uncheck the "Optional Offer" box on the Adobe Reader download page if you do not want that program installed):

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mathews at pikelibtech@gmail.com for assistance.

Patriot Out of the Darkness Walk
On Tuesday, September 15, Pike Liberal Arts SGA will host an "Out of the Darkness Walk" to bring attention to the fight against suicide. As you know, the Troy community has been impacted by suicide the last two years in various age groups. Suicide prevention starts with everyday heroes like you. You may raise money to turn in, give a donation, or just walk for the cause. The money raised will go for critical research and prevention programs and help bring some training to our community. Please come and be a part of this worthy cause. It would be an excellent opportunity to come and walk with your child(ren). We look forward to seeing you there.

- No tights or leggings may be worn unless they are worn under a dress or skirt that is no more than 4 inches above the knee as measured from the back.
Please keep these things in mind when preparing for this upcoming year.

SGA Food Drive
Parents,
The SGA needs your help. Our annual Food Drive is in progress and will continue until January 16. The class that brings the most items will get a pizza party. One party for grades K-4 through 6 and one for grades 7 through 12. Also, Mrs. Baggett has agreed to kiss a goat in front of the student body if we collect 5000 items. This drive will help the Salem-Troy Baptist Association restock their food pantry for their food ministry in our community. There is a real need for the following items:
Canned meats, breakfast cereals, rice, pasta, dry beans, spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, pancake mix, syrup, peanut butter, Pop Tarts, ketchup, mayonnaise, as well as all canned items in addition to these.
Thank you for supporting your children, our school, and this community.
