True Pike Patriot Award: Updated

PLA Sports Boosters is accepting nominations for the True Pike Patriot Award.  We are blessed to have so many that serve our school, but we all know there are some who serve in special, unique ways and reflect the heart of a true Patriot.  

The award will be presented at the Fall Sports Banquet on Monday, December 10, 2012. Nominations are due Thursday, December 6, 2012.

Donuts with Daddy

PTO is sponsoring Donuts with Daddy this Friday, November 30, from 7 - 8 am in the PLAS cafetorium.
The cost is $5 per family

Baked Goods

Pike Liberal Arts is hosting the AISA Football State Championship Triple Header this Friday, November 16.  Thanks to your consideration and cooperation in the past, we have provided excellent baked goods for this event.

We are asking for the same help this year.  For those willing to donate baked goods, we are asking that you drop them off by Friday morning.  Any baked goods such as cookies, brownies, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Second Payment for Washington Trip

The second payment for the Washington, D.C. trip is due by Monday, November 5.  The checks for $295.00 may be turned in to the office.

Homecoming Assembly and Pep Rally

The Homecoming Assembly will begin at 9:00 am on Friday, October 26, and will be followed by a reception for all Homecoming nominees, attendants, Juniors, and Seniors in the Library.

The Banner and Wagon Parade will begin at 10:45 am and will be followed by the Pep Rally.

School will be dismissed at noon.

JV Girls Basketball Try-outs

JV Girls Basketball try-outs will be on Wednesday, October 17, and Thursday, October 18, from 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm at the Troy Parks and Recreation Center at the Sportsplex.

Fall Festival

The PLAS Fall Festival will be Tuesday, October 30, in the PLA Cafetorium from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Admission will be $2 and tickets will be $5 per strip (10 tickets).

Homecoming is the week of October 22nd through October 26th.  Pike will play Ashford Academy at 7:00 pm on October 26.

Friday, September 28, there will be a special Grandparents' Day program for K4 through 6th Grade.

The K4 through 4th Grade program will begin at 10:00am and will be followed by the 5th and 6th Grade program at 11:00am.

Operation Christmas Child


THE PIKE LIBERAL ARTS SGA INVITES YOU TO BE A PART OF OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
The SGA officers will actually go to Atlanta in December to pack the boxes to fly to their destinations. You can help by packing a box and returning it to school by October 31.
You may use an empty shoe box or pick up a plastic box at the Dollar Tree.
Determine whether your gift will be for a boy or a girl, and the child's age category: 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14. Make a label with the following information: boy or girl with the correct age category and place on top of the box.
Fill the box with suggested items from below:
Toys: small cars, balls, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, small etch-a-sketch, toys that light up or make noise (with extra batteries).
School Supplies: Pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  Hygiene Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, mild bar soap (in a plastic bag),
comb, washcloth, etc.
Other: Hard candy, lollipops (please double bag all candy), mints, gum, T-shirts, socks, ball caps, sunglasses, hair clips, toy jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries)
A Personal note may be placed in a separate envelope; you may enclose pictures, name and address.

Do not include used items, toy guns, military men, knives, chocolate, liquids, lotions, medications, vitamins, breakable items such as snowglobes, glass containers or aerosol cans.
PLEASE ENCLOSE $7 TO HELP COVER THE SHIPPING COST.




Awareness Week

The week of October 2 - 5, the SGA will be sponsoring an Awareness Week.  The following will be the themes for each day:

Edline Email Addresses

In order to increase communication from the faculty and administration of Pike Liberal Arts to the parents and students, we are asking all parents/students to add an email address to your Edline account.

For those who are new to Edline, we are asking that you add an email where you can receive important information from the school during the set up process.

Those who do not yet have an Edline account, never set one up last year, or have lost their information need to contact Jeremy Mathews either through the office or by email at jmathews@pikelib.com to rectify this as soon as possible.

School day pictures will be made on the following days for the following students:

Washington Trip


There will be a parent meeting about the 9th Grade Washington, D.C. trip on Wednesday, September 12, at 6:00pm in the PLAS Cafetorium.

Termite, Pee Wee, and JV Football


The Termite, Pee Wee, and JV Football games scheduled for today have been postponed until Thursday with a start time of 5:30pm due to inclement weather in Phenix City.

The Volleyball games WILL be played as scheduled today.

Rescheduling Events for August 28

All after school activities for today, Tuesday, August 28, including Termite, PeeWee, and JV Football have been rescheduled for Monday, October 22, due to the possibility of inclement weather.

Foundation Meeting


The annual meeting of the PLAS Foundation will be Thursday, August 23rd  at 6:00 pm in the school’s cafetorium. In addition to the presentment of the school’s budget and election of new school board members, there will be reports from the PTO, Sports boosters, and Mrs. Sikes.  Following the business portion of the meeting, there will be an ice cream social along with a meet and greet with teachers sponsored by the PTO and the PLAS Board of Directors. Please make plans to attend the annual meeting to show your support for our school.

Exercise Bicycles


If anyone would like to donate exercise bicycles to PLAS for our physical education program, we are looking for 5 or 6.
